In my role I spend the majority of my time solving problems and always take the time to explain things. What I enjoy about accounting is that it’s either right or wrong. It either works or it doesn’t. Ultimately, everything has to balance. I like it when I can finalize a tax return for a client, they sign their name and they don’t have to think about it again – it takes a lot of stress away.
I like to think of myself as a puzzle solver. I’ve worked in the accounting field for 40 years and have had exposure to businesses of all sizes and many industries. This benefits you, as a client, because I’ve ‘been there and done that’ and there aren’t many accounting brainteasers that I haven’t seen before. I really enjoy helping clients move beyond the frustration when the numbers just don’t seem to want to work; be it balancing their GST or making sense of their financial statements. I enjoy working collaboratively to get all the pieces to fit, so things can get filed, and you can keep your focus on running your business. My colleagues describe me as someone who’s knowledgeable, determined, and the peace in a whirl wind.
I care a lot about the clients I work with and have built long-lasting relationships spanning into the next generation; a lot of my clients are family owned businesses. Naturally, I’ve come to see them as an extension of my own family. I love getting to know everyone in the family and their whole story.
